Indonesian concern Midnight Runners know a thing about quirky, utterly funky boogie and disco variations played out with real world heart and soul. This third album Rare Essence is the most complete look into the world of bandleader Munir Septiandry to date, not least when reveling in the heavyweight groove of "Pyramids Of The Moon". There's a lighter disco touch to "Paraswara Harmoni", but equally a cosmic force guides the track skywards in a manner that calls to mind the sweetest 70s library music. "Cyber Crimes" is a sassier affair that makes its club intentions clearer, but at every turn Midnight Runners display a keen proficiency for party music that you can equally chill to.

Impossible to find Spiritual Jazz / Funk / Groove / Psych rarity from France, 1973. Rupture was born when famous French songwriter Boris Bergman (France Gall, Dalida, etc) decided to record a conceptual album about the history of Israel. He approached ace drummer and singer Sylvain Krief (Airto Fogo, Michel Fugain, Aznavour, Clark Terry, Bud Powell, etc) and soon, other musicians joined: Jean-François Jenny-Clark (Don Cherry, Steve Lacy, etc) on bass, Georges Locatelli (Total Issue) on guitar, Jean-Pierre Mas (piano, organ, guitar, vocals…) In resume, Rupture was a kind of super-group featuring some of the best musicians from the Euro jazz / progressive / fusion scene. It also included collaborations by Michel Fugain and Nicole Croisille.The album was recorded over a period of three months and the result was released as a very limited private pressing with help from the Futura label. Arranged by Sylvain Krief and Jean-Pierre Mas, “Israel Suite” included a side-long suite on side A and shorter songs on Side B. After some successful releases on top labels like Street Edits, Giant Cuts, Boogie Café or Wall Of Fame, Madrid's DJ and producer Javi Frias has decided to start his own label called Night Shift Records, devoted to soulful and deep disco edits and reworks.The first release on the label is called 'Make It Happen EP', and includes 4 strong tracks full of love and energy retouched and extended by Javi Frias to get the maximum dance floor pleasure, covering funky disco, gospel, house and soulful grooves.

Flumo's first vinyl offering for 2017 sees Chocky returning with three original signature tracks along with a remix from true craftsman Orlando Voorn.Higher Synth, the first cut on the record rolls out the instantly recognizable Chocky sound to full effect. Looped chords set the rhythm in motion & the vocal sample provides just enough variety within the track to mix things up and keep you moving.Orlando Voorn's take on Higher Synth enhances the weight and heaviness of the original, the wooden bass kick and crisp synth layers provide a refreshing satisfying take on things.The flip side contains two tracks, first of which is Seek Deep, a track that similarly maintains Chocky's signature vibe whilst also paying homage to deeper, classic house tracks with a spoken Word vocal.. This track was first made available on Flumo's Unreleased Highlights Volume 4 compilation, and it now sees an anticipated vinyl release.Closing off the package is Chocky's Brush Away, a track delving into the hypnotic sphere, where field-recorded vocals and trumpet lines create a late night groove aimed straight at the dancefloor. Chocky returns to the label and he delivers.

Makam madness gives way to instrumental prog on this burned-out last album, released in 1976, by Turkey's Anadolu Pop heroes.Mogollar was the band that never had a singer attached for long, and yet even more than Baris or Erkin, they consciously highlighted what was different about the new sounds of the era.Incredible fusion of ancient Anatolian melodies and instruments with prog/psych including ocassional piercing fuzz guitar. Recommended to anyone into John Berberian, Devil's Anvil and vintage Turkish psych.Remastered sound. Includes liner notes by Angela Sawyer.
