Musique De France

auteur:

photo:
a propos:
No banging techno spiced up with darbouka samples here… no standard dance music with orientalist clichés: Acid Arab's music is sincere and deep. It's not a collage, not an appropriation, not even a "fusion". It originates from encounters on equal terms between different worlds. Between instruments, rhythms, melodic modes, musical technologies… and people. Check!Parisian electronic music crew ACID ARAB have been putting European festival and club audiences under a spell for the last couple of years, with their intoxicating blend of sharp Western electronic music with Eastern sounds & vocals.Formed in 2012 by Parisian DJs Guido Minisky and Hervé Carvalho, Acid Arab patiently honed their style by meeting with scores of artists from all over North Africa and the Middle East. Born in the transcultural cauldron that is Paris, their concept was to create a space for Arab culture in the world of contemporary electronic music. They laid down groundwork by releasing several EPs (the Collections series) on electronic music label Versatile, featuring collabs, remixes and tracks by other artists.Moving on to create their own tracks, they became a fully-fledged musical entity by teaming up with Pierrot Casanova, Nicolas Borne and, for studio and live activities, with sensational Algerian keyboard player Kenzi Bourras. They are now about to release their first album (on Crammed Discs, an appropriate match, given the label's track record in terms of fostering musical cross-breeding).For 'Musique de France', Acid Arab have worked with a number of guests. To paint a complete picture, they needed voices, and some instruments: keyboards played by Kenzi Bourras (who has been performing live with the band since day one), and also by stellar Syrian musician Rizan Said. There's vocals and saz playing by Istanbul's Cem Yildiz (who wrote the famous song Kime ne for his band Insanlar), and vocals by Yemenite sister trio A-WA (who gained plenty of international kudos with the very first song they released, Habibi Galbi, which got remixed by Acid Arab). And collaborations with Paris-based luminaries of Franco-Arabic music such as rocker Rachid Taha, raï fusion pioneer Sofiane Saidi, as well as gnawa musician/singer Jawad El Garrouge.

Commissaire Moulin Et Autres Scene De Crimes

photo:
a propos:
Brilliant tv and movie themes by François de roubaix!!! On 20 November 1975 Francois de Roubaix disappeared while diving. Before going towards this tragic death, Francois had received an order for a television series theme tune "Commissaire Moulin". As usual, the composed melody has been indelibly printed in the collective memory. Francois de Roubaix always put his fingers where it should be! Between electronic tricks and acoustic works, this record brings the themes of this television series together with other musics composed for never released or still unknown projects... All unpublished music, never pressed on vinyl! It soon becomes clear that Francois de Roubaix feels confortable with this kind of exercises. The result is every time sublime. Recommended!!

Onze Danses Pour Combattre La Migraine (Krikor Remixes)

auteur:

photo:
a propos:
Originally recorded by Marc Moulin, Vincent Kenis and Marc Hollander in 1977 Brussels. Leapfrogging over style and genre boundaries, the LP shuffles between improvised jazz, minimalism, imaginary ethnic music, classical and even proto-techno (‘Saure Gurke’ foreshadows characteristic Detroit techno riffs by a good ten years). It became a cult album in its own right and a few decades later Parisian dj / producer Krikor spontaneously decided to rework two tracks for his dj-sets. ensemble brings his remixes with the kind permission of Crammed, Marc Hollander / Aksak Maboul and Krikor.

WPH Ten 2

a propos:
WPH TEN-2 follows…WPH TEN-1! Sometimes life can be really simple… DJ Support from:Charles Webster, Mark E, Morning Factory, Axel Boman, Social Disco Club, James Teej & Johannes Albert...amongst others So now, the music. Vintage Dynamodyse (who is also SRF Inc of course, with some help from his friends) is what you are getting here. But seeing as our deep man from Cologne isn’t exactly the most famous producer on the block, we’ll just remind you by saying that the music is deep house that has absolutely nothing to do with what all techsters and hipsters have been calling deep house. Just listen and play the f*ck out of these two!

Here Comes The Crazy Man!

photo:
a propos:
Belgian composer, arranger, pianist and keyboardist Koen De Bruyne (1946 - 1977), brother of celebrated singer and songwriter Kris De Bruyne, had his own, unfortunately short, stint in the field of pop, jazz, fusion and funk in the 1970ies. He rose to the scene as a wanted session and live musician for local heroes such as Johan Verminnen, Will Tura, Ferre Grignard, Mad Unity, Black Blood and his brother Kris.In 1974, after some years in the trade, Koen De Bruyne debuted as a solo artist. The inspired fusion epic 'Here Comes The Crazy Man!' undeniably proves he was much more than a gifted 'hired gun'. He gathered a fabulous line-up for the recording sessions, featuring three members of the legendary Placebo (Marc Moulin's jazz/funk outfit). Recorded in the renowned Brussels Madeleine studios with some of the most prolific and inventive of his contemporaries, HCTCM! is a truly exceptional and imaginative record and has gained the status of sought after cult classic decades after its release. The exact 1974 line-up consisted out of the three Placebo members mentioned before, Richard Rousselet on trumpet, Yvan De Souter on bass and Jean Pierre Onraedt on drums. De Bruyne also invited trumpeter Gerard Sabbe, vocalist Patricia Maessen, flutist Adelson Defrise and Firmin Timmermans on bongos.Built around De Bruyne's omnipresent piano and synth themes, the four lengthy tracks on HCTCM! float anywhere between heavy funk and psychedelic jazz rock, with some strong fusion interactions. Flavoured by its distinctive double trumpet lines, De Souter's exceptional bass playing and Patricia Maessens ethereal vocals, it only takes one close listen to sense this album is something exceptional. We're witnessing an entire band of musicians performing at the top of their game. Psychedelic, vigorous and at times quite experimental, Koen De Bruyne's only real album to have seen the daylight is a rare Belgian gem, one that stands the test of time and is waiting to be rediscovered by new generations of listeners.Apart from the four tracks on the original HCTCM! album, making their debut on cd, this reissue features a lot of unreleased music. 'Games' is a mysterious unreleased triptych that was recorded after the album, the masters we stumbled upon had to be retrieved from a reel to reel tape falling apart. Also included here are 4 majestic solo piano improvisations that were retrieved from another lost studio tape.Packaging: 180gr vinyl, deluxe version heavy weight 'old style' tip-on card sleeve

L'Antarctique & Autres Seances Electroniques Rue De Courcelles

photo:
a propos:
Repress in blue vinyl !!The late French soundtrack composer (1939-1975) was one of the first to use frequency modulators on an 8 track homestudio. He was known for his melodic works mixing electronic & acoustic. His oeuvre has been sampled by many. This release devotes a posthumous work composed for a Cousteau documentary which was refused, probably beacuse it was too avant-garde. On the second disc you'll find different tasty style-exercises that show to what extend Roubaix manipulated the modulators with ingenuity.
