Alexander Lay-Far, one of the most prolific and in demand music producers in Russia, is about to release his long-awaited 3rd studio album "War is Over"! Deeply personal, honest, emotional and uncompromising album boasts the exciting collaborations with the likes of Stee Downes, Jesse Futerman, Pete Simpson, Riddim Research Lab, Phil Gerus, Andy Compton and Recloose. After a slew of successful releases on the ever so great Local Talk, Leng Records, G.A.M.M., Razor N Tape, BBE among handful other labels, Lay-Far is releasing a 100% DIY product on his own imprint In-Beat-Ween Music. The result of "War Is Over" - is the profound revaluation of personal and music experience, the reflection of the rich tapestry of cultures and influences woven together and defining Lay-Far's artistic journey: Chinese roots and Russian mentality, B-boy past and exploration of Dub, fascination with Post-Punk and UK Hardcore, passion for House and Broken beat, Old School Hip-Hop and Soviet Jazz Funk. This time Lay-Far surpasses the expectations, creating a multi-layered yet integral album where edges between genres and scenes are consciously blurred. A gem of "modern fusion" as Motor City Drum Ensemble best described it!“War Is Over" brings to the forefront the laconic arrangements, extensive use of space and special attention to the sound texture, while retaining Lay-Far's trademark warmth and roughness, knack for perfect grooves, variety of rhythms, melodicism and overall funkiness. Crammed with quotes, allusions and hidden "Easter eggs", it will keep the die-hard fans busy till the next album is out.It is an exciting and dynamic music journey, where uplifting and life-affirming dance numbers (PPL LV and Sweet Mess) go hand in hand with socio-political commentaries (Decentralized Spiritual Autonomy, Market Economy VS Culture), conscious and spiritual messages (Be The Change, Forgiveness Is Bliss), crossover dance-floor bangers (Blow My Mind, The Pressure - The Release), personal accounts of emotional struggle (Never Good Enough For You, Over), dubbed out aural explorations (Draw The Curtains) and thoughts about eternal (Vast and Infinite, Sirius Rising). Add here a pinch of irony and you have a body of work that will appeal to both the discerning fans and new audience alike!

Now, That's A Steal! #2

a propos:
After an impressive debut in early 2015, the boys behind the Soviet veil have slow-cooked another frothy sampling of off-kilter edits from the motherland (or somewhere). Never mind the long pause between releases, the tenacious attention to detail shows on all four jams. This is one to pick up if you're a serious club DJ or not, really.

Thru Jazz To Mars

Lay-Far presents Boorane - Thru Jazz To Mars EP. The project of respected Russian hip-hop beatmakers doing gritty and grainy house music the old-school way. Imagine if Peter Rock was born in Moscow and was producing house, inspired by the Soviet Space Program! We are very excited to present you the new release on our label: Boorane - Thru Jazz to Mars EP!Although it's the very first EP of the project, these guys can hardly be called newcomers. Boorane members already have the street credibility and style with the strong roots and skills in b-boying and djing, dating back to early 2000s, and can easily teach us a thing or two about the art of digging, beats programming, real swing and texture. With previous releases on King Underground Records, Boora is recognized as the godfather of Russian boom bap, no less. Together with his good friend and long-time collaborator on all fronts Krane, they came up with this work of beauty and depth.Soulful hip-hop beats meet heavily swung house, sophisticated techno and a nice slice of timeless electro, all based on obscure Soviet samples & excerpts from long-forgotten scientific movies and documentaries, chopped drum breaks and complex groovy programming - All created with the classic hip-hop set of tools: Akai MPC 3000 and E-Mu SP-1200.On the metaphorical side of things Boorane is the clear reference to Buran - the legendary Soviet space program and the eponymous space shuttle! Beyond the mere name - the EP is loaded with sounds, related to the space exploration, including the shuttle engine start at the very beginning of this special musical journey, leading us to straight into space with a reassuring hip-hop beat.Boorane's music has the capacity to work on so many levels. Being down to earth and clearly physical on the one hand, with the heavy grainy beats and gritty textures that are ready to shake the dancefloors, their music has an unmistakable timeless touch, yielding high aspirations and thoughts about space and time. The vivid example is Find The Way which is a collaboration with the label boss Lay-Far - is a real pacifist manifesto - with its reassuring thoughts about the future of the world - Love has got to find the way and step by step are the phrases effectively repeated as mantras throughout the track, making us believe the prospect is just inevitable!Being influenced by the wide range of musicians, like Theo Parrish, Atjazz, Miles Davis, James Brown, Pete Rock, Dj Premier and notably Soviet jazz scene i.e. Mustafa Zade, Georgiy Garaniyan or Aleksey Kucenko, Boora and Krane find the way to make their deeply-rooted music instantly catchy and likeable, at the same time bringing something unique and refreshing to the scene. Please welcome - Boorane!
