We're back from hibernation after releasing the third Roundup at the end of 2016 and we're starting off with a new signing. Milan based Parker Madicine joins Heist with some high tech funk with a serious nod to the "D" and we've got Byron the Aquarius delivering a great jazzy remix.You'll be more likely to find Parker Madicine browsing through boxes of old jazz and soul records than you'll see him showcasing his social media skills. He's a real vinyl junky and moreover a hip hop fanatic and probably loves his synthesizers more than his mother. Apart from promoting funk and soul oriented parties in Milan, he founded CT-HI records, short for "Contemporary Theories of Hip Hop Influences".A few years back he teamed up a.o. with his buddies Veez-O and Turbojazz to create some Dilla and early 90's inspired hip hop and these influences are clearly present in his EP for Heist.With Heartbreaker, he lays down a dreamy but heavy groove for the first minute or so, arpeggiating its way to the moment where the airy pads make room for a looser than loose groove where synth stabs and bass line dance around each other creating a killer vibe.Zawinul starts in the same manner, rough kick, loose and degraded hi-hats and dreamy Rhodes chords. The tracks build further with some lovely brassy hits and arps, whereas Placebo is the most stripped back but high tempo track, where an airy and delayed bassline does most of the work to set the mood.We're really happy to have Byron the Aquarius reworking one of PM's tracks. He's been on a roll with his releases on Sound Signature, Wild Oats and recently remixed Max Graef on Ninja Tune. It was in Placebo where Byron found the most fruitful ground to showcase his magic on the keys, flipping the contemplative original into a feel-good showcase of harmonizing melodies.Underneath the sweet upper layers of the Moog solo work, he lays down a killer disco bass line, running up and down the octave giving the whole track a great forward thinking and energetic feel.This EP feels like a great musical start for Heist in 2017, and we're looking forward to sharing this, and much more to come with you.Your Sincerely, Maarten & Lars.

With releases on Rush Hour, Mister Saturday Night and Delusions of Grandeur, Nebraska is a man who needs little introduction.Here, he delivers an amazing EP for Heist, showcasing his talent for finding those catchy, but hard to pin-down samples. The Soften the wireless EP navigates nicely between disco and house with 4 originals and an amazing Tom Noble remix.Khan's bargain will be the go to track the more disco minded listeners out there, with a catchy-as-hell synth line that you wish you'd made up yourself.The remix, courtesy of NYC's finest disco selector Tom Noble, goes on a clubbier path, turning the silky smooth original into a distorted house jam full of delays and filtered drums. The B-side sees Nebraska turning towards the housier side of things himself, with The blues as a perfect example of minimalistic house.Here, he uses only a small amount of elements to create an intoxicating and intense groove. It won't be long breezes through with a lighthearted arpeggio and some lovely dreamy vocals to set a more emotional vibe.Sincerely yours, Lars & Maarten

As far as defying conventions goes, Frits is on a whole new level of realness. With his new label Bobby Donny, he's putting out leftfield electronic music with a big F.Y. attitude and he's not too shy to tell you why the current state of the house scene is so utterly boring to him.There's even rumours of a new project with some legendary and like minded producers, so our advice is to keep an eye out for this.His love for creating alter ego's and the time he spends curating his techno outpost Will & Ink, alongside his ruthless decision making process in selecting tracks for an EP, makes you wonder how and why he even makes time to release house music. But he does. And we're glad, because with each release, you know you'll be in for a treat.After releasing his album Rarely pure, never simple early 2015 on Wolf Music and releases on the fresh Icelandic label Borg and Darko Esser's Wolfskuil Records, he's back on Heist with his follow up to his 2014 Family Dinner EP.Rising sun, falling coconut is an exploration into fuzzy synths and drunk organs, all drenched in his signature and ever so dusty grooves.Basically, a case of classic Heist, classic Frits.Sincerely yours, Lars & Maarten
