Bosq Meets Poly Rythmo Uptown

a propos:
For over 40 years Orchestre Poly Rythmo de Cotonou has combined traditional Beninese music with soul, funk, afrobeat, rhumba and Cuban rhythms to create this infectious sound…Hailing from Benin, West Africa, Orchestre Poly Rythmo de Cotonou has been churning out incendiary Afro grooves since 1966. On 'Bosq Meets Poly Rythmo Uptown,' Bosq tastefully reworks 4 of Orchestre Poly Rythmo's legendary recordings. As a die-hard fan, Bosq took a subtle approach to the project. According to him Orchestre Poly Rythmo has been a strong influence on his work and he wanted to be respectful to the original tracks. Bosq focused on making the tracks DJ friendly by beefing up the low end, rearranging and stretching parts out, and adding in extra percussion and a drum machine. The result is a 4-track EP of bumpy Afro disco, psychedelic funk, frenzied Afrobeat, and sunny soulful grooves.Based in Medellin, Colombia, Bosq has released a collection of music on Ubiquity Records, Soul Clap Records, Fania Records, Razor-N-Tape, and more. Since 2015, Sol Power Sound, out of Washington, DC has released deep sounds inspired by rhythms and traditions from around the globe. The label's output includes Afro-Latin stompers, re-edits of lost disco grooves, heady percussive tech workouts, and other sonic treats.Four stone-cold classic Orchestre Poly Rythmo de Cotonou tracks re-shaped by Bosq for the dancefloor today...

Theme Song

Purple Vinyl !!!Sol Power Sound is proud to present their first release of 2016, a 3-song EP by recent Finnish expatriate, Tom of Brooklyn. After a massive release on Razor-n-Tape in 2015 (and slight change of moniker), the ever-mysterious Tom delivers a 3-song EP of breezy disco grooves inspired by his recent cruise of the islands. On Theme Song from Deep Cock, Tom double-teamed with Deep Sang (of the Sol Power All-Stars). The tag-team duo came up with a tight and groovy title sequence for a film that will likely never see the light of day.Look at Me is a moody slice of disco goodness that Tom put together for his now-legendary sunrise sets on the ship.Make Me Wonder is a warm-weather jam that fills the B-side of the record. A seemingly endless funky groove, it was Tom's secret weapon at his all-day beach parties in port. He tells us he can't wait to play it at outdoor jams in his new home of Brooklyn, NY (and at Fire Island soirees this summer).

Color Soul EP

auteur:

a propos:
Sol Power Sound is proud to present the Color Soul EP by Obas Nenor. After a huge year with releases on legendary Strictly Rhythm and Moodymann's Mahogani Music, the Tel Aviv producer blesses Sol Power Sound with a four-song EP of thick Afro-disco, bumping house, and twisted techy grooves. The EP opens with Let's Go, a brawny peak-time banger with chugging drums, rolling bass, spooky synths, and a few dusty samples.Hotel Room started in, you guessed it, a hotel room in Accra, Ghana with a suitcase full of newly acquired Ghanaian percussion instruments. Obas Nenor finished it off with catchy vocal chops, synth melodies, guitar, and chatted vocals by Soma. It's an infectious mid-tempo groove and a Sol Power favourite.NoNooZa is a deceptively rugged Afro-disco / house hybrid full of heavy Sonics and texture. After a gradual build, NoNooZa morphs into a tough-as-nails dance floor bomb. Obas Nenor fittingly describes Tribe Tribute as Afro-tech. The EP closer is packed with deeeeeeep late night vibes that will move a heady room well into the morning.
