NYC Disco legend Danny Krivit returns to the editing block on behalf of seminal Miami Disco powerhouse TK Disco. With 45 years in the DJ game under his belt and having played endless gigs all over the world during that time it's safe to say Mr.K knows exactly what he's doing when it comes to the re-edit thing! With unprecedented access to TK's vaults Danny has been turning in some stellar reworkings as of late and the cuts included on this latest instalment keep the quality sky high!On the A-side Mr.K kicks off with a heavyweight edit of a stone cold b-boy / club classic! The legendary, late Ralph McDonald's (RIP) 'Jam on the groove' has long been a staple source of nourishment for hungry samplers and it's stripped back, calypso influenced percussion breakdowns have found themselves being cut up by numerous DJ's at clubs and block parties since it's original release in 1976. Here, Mr.K brings that killer breakdown right up front, rearranging the track in a way that gives us all the meat! This is a truly pared back edit, those with keen ears will recognise a wealth of samples that have been jacked from mr McDonald's drum-kit. This is one cut you can either hustle to or head-spin to! Hot, hot, hot....The B-side see's Miami's FOXY and their 'Get off your aaah & dance' get the Mr.K editing block treatment. Kicking off with some tight drums with a heavy Latin influence this cut rolls along so smooth, giving way to a super funky pairing of guitars and flutes. FOXY are another group whose catalogue has been plundered by sample savvy producers over the years. This particular track is Disco heaven, beautifully produced and arranged, it flows along and will certainly cause some dance-floor tremors! A track for dancers, 100%, gracefully tweaked by Mr.K in just the right way! Essential business!Of course, Danny Krivit's edits are always done in the proper manner, from the point of view of someone who has lived, breathed and played this music for the best part of 50 years. 100% legit re-edits, from Danny's personal collection, remastered and released in conjunction with Henry Stone Music / TK Disco - Miami FL.

With 45 years in the DJ game under his belt and having played endless gigs all over the world during that time it's safe to say Mr.K knows exactly what he's doing when it comes to the re-edit thing! With unprecedented access to TK's vaults Danny has been turning in some stellar reworkings as of late and the cuts included on this latest instalment keep the quality sky high!Peter Brown, a Chicago born singer, keyboard player and producer who had numerous hit singles and LP's (he also wrote Madonna's "Material Girl"!) was a popular Disco artist who harnessed his own original style merging his sweet singing style with synths and modern studio techniques. "For Your Love" listed from his 1977 debut LP "A Fantasy Love Affair" on TK's Drive imprint takes up side-A on this 12" and is treated to the DK edit magic. Danny gives us a subtle, respectful rework of this quirky LP cut, a synth driven midtempo number. Perfect for the early set or the late, late night encounters, sublime! On side-B we have a slightly more uptempo jam in the shape of legendary jazz organist Jimmy McGriff's "Tailgunner" - A groove that just won't stop! Here Danny gives us the break after some slight teasing, accompanied by McGriff's funky organ vamps the whole track is rearranged and slightly tougher than the original version. This edit is definitely for the dancers, it's got all the drums upfront and displays some serious hard funk! Again, on this volume both edits are of supreme high quality, not surprising in any way when we consider that one of the originators of the art-form is behind them!100% legit re-edits, remastered and released in conjunction with Henry Stone Music / TK Disco - Miami FL.

Danny Krivit Special Disco Edits Vol 2

photo:
a propos:
Legendary NYC DJ / editor Danny Krivit's story in contemporary dance music is a long and storied one. Danny's got to be one of the hardest working men behind the decks right now with an international rep and DJ schedule truly befitting of his time spent making us dance over the last 45 (!) years. It makes perfect sense then, that one of the most seminal Disco labels of all time would call upon Mr. K's sharp editing skills when reappraising some of the jams from their extensive catalogue. TK Disco is the label in question here and they've let Danny loose on a pair of dance-floor burners that all Disco heads will be familiar with.On side-A we have KC & The Sunshine Band's "Let It Go", an oft sampled uptempo funk number from 1975 that pleases both b-boys and disco dancers in equal amounts, widely recognised in the UK as the main sample from DJ Mink's "Hey, hey (Can you relate?)" and Scientists hardcore classic "The Exorcist". Here Danny extends the breaks, looping the funk just right and turning the track into a bonafide DJ weapon, you might even want to nab 2 copies for the extended, extended mix session! (If you're that way inclined!) Essential! On side-B is Gwen McCrae's midtempo heater "Move Me Baby" from 1974, a pre-Disco stepper featuring Gwen's legendary vocals over some sublime Casey and Finch production! Danny's edit is subtle and slightly tougher edged than the original, again extending and rearranging the track respectfully. This one has the dancers firmly planted in it's mind and will sound awesome pumping out of any decent soundsystem! Both edits are masterfully executed, which is stating the obvious considering who's behind them!100% legit re-edits, remastered and released in conjunction with Henry Stone Music / TK Disco - Miami FL.

Danny Krivit Special Disco Edits Vol 1

Danny Krivit's name has been synonymous with quality, underground dance music for many decades now. His roles as re-edit pioneer, legendary NYC disc jock and all around music obsessive have long been written about. Danny is approaching 45 years as a DJ, almost half a century behind the decks across the world and he shows no sign in stopping anytime soon fortunately! Quite fitting then, that he has opened up his personal, private archive of re-edits for all of us Disco fiends to enjoy and play over and over with this limited, fully licensed 12" release.Any self respecting Disco head should be familiar with the name Voyage. Releasing on Miami's legendary TK Disco imprint as well as numerous other well known labels, Voyage have a dedicated cult following for their percussion heavy euro Disco sounds. Here Mr.K takes on one of their most famous cuts on the A-side - "Lady America" and teases all of the best bits about this uptempo anthem out into the open and straight onto the dancefloor! Breaks are elongated, the right parts are looped in just the right way and the tracks momentum is pushed right through the roof, a Disco bomb indeed! On the B-side we have "Point Zero", a smorgasbord of Afro percussions, chants and rhythms that will literally tear the roof off any club! again DK has tweaked this monster track in all the right places adding his magical editing touch with love and respect, essential stuff and a total dancefloor weapon! Both tracks contained on this 12" have been fully licensed and legitimately reissued in conjunction with Danny Krivit / TK Disco. These edits have been lovingly reworked by Danny with dancers and DJ's alike in mind. A very special release indeed and one that all Disco heads will undoubtedly be excited to see in the shops! Essential release.

Love Somebody/Hazy Shades.. (Danny Krivit Edits)

With 45 years in the DJ game under his belt and having played endless gigs all over the world during that time it's safe to say Mr.K knows exactly what he's doing when it comes to the re-edit thing! With unprecedented access to TK's vaults Danny has been turning in some stellar reworkings as of late and the cuts included on this latest instalment keep the quality sky high!Jo Bisso's unique Disco sound has long been popular with fans of underground dance music, his long percussive cuts have always done the business for DJ's who dig deeper for their sounds giving Bisso some cult "hits" under his belt. "Love somebody" was originally released in 1977 and clocked in at a staggering 16 minutes across 2 separate parts on the LP. Step in editing royalty Danny Krivit, who blesses us with yet another essential Disco weapon in the form of his punchier, stripped back edit of this monster cut. As usual with a Mr.K edit all the right parts have been left in, everything's been touched, reworked, extended and tweaked in just the right ways, the only way a master knows how! This one will work any dance-floor and will sound huge on a good system! Trust us, give it a spin! On the flip we have an extended Mr.K edit of Amant's "Hazy shades of love" lifted from their 1978 self titled LP on TK offshoot Marlin. Amant was another production pseudonym of Ray Martinez, the legendary artist, engineer, producer and remixer who worked with numerous artists including Mongo Santamaria, George McCrae, Quincy Jones and many more. The original version of the track clocked in at over 13 minutes in length and again Danny's edit has packed all the hot action into 9 minutes of Disco heat! 100% legit re-edits, remastered and released in conjunction with Henry Stone Music / TK Disco - Miami FL.

Get On Down (Medlar Remixes)

photo:
a propos:
''Get on down'' is a heavyweight slice of storming Jamaican Disco-Reggae heat from the legendary studios of Miami's TK Disco empire. King Sporty's version may not have been as well known as Connie Case's electro laden later 1982 version (also produced by Sporty) but the perfect marriage of Disco stylings and Sporty's Jamaican roots meant the original 1979 version was a cult classic in underground deep Disco circles. Over 35 years since ''Get on down'' was released the keepers of the TK Disco vaults have given permission for some of their classics and lesser known gems to be respectfully tweaked by contemporary producers and DJ's who fully understand the lineage of the label and the music contained within. Stepping up and get his hands dirty is none other than London dwelling, WOLF music man - Medlar. A regular face behind the turntables all over the world Medlar has lovingly freaked King Sporty's anthem for the modern dance-floor, extending the right parts in just the oh so right way, dubbing out parts that needed just a smidgen of echo here and there and generally making the track irresistible to DJ's with it's lovely long beat led intro. These are extremely tasteful edits, done with respect and reverence over 2 parts - old school style. Look out for those low flying dubbed out vox and lazer beams too, powerful stuff

Why Can't We Live Together

Official re issue of this timeless classic featuring a fantastic update from Australia's Late Nite Tuff Guy - Tuff Cut Records. Their version has already had 62,000 plays on Soundcloud. In LNTG own words of how "No More War Rework" came around : About 6 months ago, just before I set off on my 5 month tour of Europe I got a message from a good friend of mine asking me if I would edit a track that he loves. I said of course, and asked him what track. Turns out its a big favourite of mine also. 'Why Can't We Live Together' by Timmy Thomas is an amazing song with a strong message that is even more relevant today than it was back in 1972. The message is clear, it's simple, it's beautiful. I'm saddened by recent events around the world and I've always tried to spread love through music, because for me, music is love. I hope you share the message and enjoy. LNTG <3
