Atlantic Oscillations

‘Atlantic Oscillations’ (out June 21st 2019) marks the return of world-renowned British producer Quantic with his most cohesive and intricate album to date. Bringing together new players and concepts with a dance orientated sound that has enchanted fans and tastemakers across the world for nearly two decades, it showcases Will “Quantic” Holland’s artistry and rare ability to intertwine the electronic with the orchestral.Embracing his own love of albums that travel, taking the listener on twists and turns, with the loss of the album narrative that has occurred in this day of streaming, Holland utilises the space created to explore more creativity as a producer. As he admits, “on the whole, the common theme on this record is that it is probably more intricate and arranged than previous records. I spent three times as long as any other Quantic record and spent a lot of time in the detail”. This meticulous attitude is apparent throughout; each track has been crafted to draw the listener’s attention, with elements of both musical originality and a sense of modernity

“California Love (featuring Cory Henry) [7” EDIT]” / “Shiznit” is the 7” single from multi-instrumentalist Sly5thAve’s ‘The Invisible Man: An Orchestral Tribute To Dr. Dre’ LP. In this instalment, a rework of Dre’s notorious “California Love” is paired with Snoop Dogg’s timeless “Shiznit”.The album resulted from a concert called “Cali-Love”, assembled for the non-profit music charity, Playing For Change – and was dedicated to building a music school in Compton. Attended by Dr. Dre–who took to the stage to congratulate Sly5thAve’s arrangements, he said, “I’m here to show some support and give the same amount of love that this incredible band has given to me. You sound amazing.” – DR. DRE (The Cali-Love concert)Off the back of an incredible reaction to 'The Invisible Man: An Orchestral Tribute To Dr. Dre' and to mark the start of Sly5thAve’s first tour, we present this limited 7” pressing of two of the album’s standout cuts. Now on its third pressing, the album continues to pick up fans and plaudits alike. As you may have noticed, the 7” label is based on the famous Ruthless records design.- Taken from Sly5thAve’s “The Invisible Man: An Orchestral Tribute To Dr. Dre” which is already on its third pressing.- Sly5thAve’s UK tour kicks off on October 11th 2018. Including great venues such as London’s Jazz Café, Trinity in Bristol and Club Academy, Manchester- Label artwork inspired by Dr. Dre’s famous Ruthless Records designs used on releases by artists such as Easy E, Ice Cube, Brownside, NWA and many more.- Previous support from tastemakers such as Lauren Laverne, Gilles Peterson (BBC 6Music) & Jarobi White (A Tribe Called Quest), to Noisey, NPR, and The Fader.

The Invisible Man: An Orchestral Tribute To Dr. Dre

auteur:

a propos:
With "The Invisible Man: An Orchestral Tribute to Dr. Dre" multi-instrumentalist and producer Sly5thAve releases one of his most accomplished works to date. The album comes from a place of collaboration and pioneers an openness to improvisation and experimentation, resulting in a collection of visionary jazz cross-over tributes to Dr. Dre's work. A significant marker of the collaborative process can be heard in the many link-ups and vocal features which hit home throughout the record, from Will “Quantic” Holland (‘The Edge’) and Marc de Clive-Lowe (‘Drelude for Woo’) to Jimetta Rose (‘Let Me Ride’) and Melissa McMillan (‘I’d Rather Be With You’), each significantly contributing to the album’s rhythmic and melodic flair.Honing many of his chops through former projects and on the road as a session musician, Sly5thAve has also worked as a collaborator and session musician with such legendary and established artists such as, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Janelle Monáe and Quantic.

a propos:

Finally back on wax, the Hot 8 Brass Band’s legendary cover of Marvin Gaye’s Sexual Healing gets a special release for Record Store Day 2016. Pressed on gold coloured vinyl and housed in a deluxe pantone gold sleeve, this special package features the original edit of Sexual Healing alongside fresh new edits for the dancefloor. This stone-cold classic has been a fixture in radio, club and festival sets across the world for almost a decade and only continues to grow in popularity.Alongside the original, this release features new reworks from Ibibio Sound Machine, Maddslinky (AKA Zed Bias), Werkha, J-Felix and more – the diverse package sees the New Orleans greats celebrating their classic track on an excitingly fresh note. With the band on the form of their lives, rocking packed venues with the sort of visceral, body-shaking live performance that only they can give, these eclectic new remixes sees their inimitable energy spreading ever further, crossing even more genre lines and reaching into every corner of club-land.One of a very few brass bands who pour as much charisma, training and talent into their vocals as their horn playing, their sound packs an almighty connective power that remains uniquely Hot 8 no matter what influences they draw on. October 2015’s ‘Vicennial’ LP and sell-out UK/Ireland tour have gained the band heavy and continuing support, from The Sunday Times, Independent On Sunday, Songlines and Metro to the world’s top radio and club DJs.After the success of putting the Hot 8 Brass Band back on vinyl for their Vicennial release, we are really excited to get Hot 8 Brass Band’s classic cover of Sexual Healing back on 12”.
