The Very Polish Cut-Outs Vol.5

photo:
a propos:
All good things come to an end, and The Very Polish Cut-Outs is no different. The fifth sampler will be the last in the much loved & long running series. For the farewell record, label boss Zambon has selected five unique reworks from top producers from Poland and beyond.Side A is aimed at the dancefloor. 'KIEDY BYLEM MALYM CHLOPCEM' was the biggest hit in the long career of Tadeusz Nalepa, the king of Polish blues. The irresistible, smooth guitar groove is combined with conscious lyrics about different views of what's important at different stages of life, served in the form of a conversation between father and son. Miod crew transform this beautiful song into peak-time killer, tailored exactly for the needs of a modern dancefloor.Moscow's man of the moment Beard In Dust edits 'BIALA SOWA, BIALA DAMA, BIALY KRUK' by Kram into a flawless disco funk bomb, fuelled by cheesy synth action. A slice of Eastern European B-Boy disco breaks.Side B brings more ethereal and psychedelic flavours to the table. 'NA KOLANA PASTUSZKOWIE' comes from Laboratorium, Poland's answer to Weather Report. Their unique take on fusion is remixed here by Daniel Drumz, one of the heroes of Polish hiphop & beat scene. This longtime turntablist leaves his rap roots and travels to the psychedelic coast to bring you an amazing piece of Baltic Beat.Last two tracks are chopped and looped by Australian hero Carpentaria in a truly Balearic fashion. 'ZA OSTATNI GROSZ' by Budka Suflera charms the listener with dripping pianos and a misty, endless soft rock groove (with added swirling synths played here by Brennan Green himself), while ZACZAROWNE MIASTO by Kombi is a dark, cinematic piece of slow synth pop.It may be the end, but The Very Polish Cut-Outs finishes off in fine style.

The Very Yugo Cut-Outs Vol.1

photo:
a propos:
After The Very Polish and The Very Soviet Cut-Outs, Zambon continues his endless trip around Eastern Europe with another excursion. Now it's time to follow him and dive deep into dance music of former Yugoslavia. The very first volume of the brand new The Very Yugo Cut-Outs exposes a little known scene of editors based around the cult club 20/44 in Belgrade, Serbia. A duo of DJs and producers called Kompleks is responsible for three edits here, while the label boss Zambon supplies the last one.Tracks range from poppy new wave of Jakarta group from Serbia, through psychedelic rock of Seid Memic aka Vajta from Bosnia, Yugo boogie of Kim Band from Serbia/Macedonia and sleazy synthpop of Videosex group from Slovenia. The unique vibe and amazing skills of Yugoslavian musicians from the rich and unfortunately still little known scene are guaranteed to move both you and your local dancefloor.

Ludzie Z Marsa/Słoneczna Promenada

photo:
a propos:
Brand new (and also the last one) treat in the The Very Polish Cut-Outs 7inch series, usually devoted to quirkier and weirder tracks than the much acclaimed 12" samplers.Eltron John kicks off the A side with a reggae influenced rework of a Polish children's song from late 80's called 'Ludzie z Marsa'. His modern, dubby production and close attention to the smallest details fuses perfectly with abstract lyrics. This serious-not-serious song treats about people who are from Mars and invade Earth, because 'they can't remember what the forest animals look like, what a farce !Already road tested by the members of TVPC, this Caribbean-East European depth of a groove works perfectly in late night drunk sets.On the B side Eddie C visits executive suite of a cruise ship with his extended, melancholic rework of 'Stoneczna Promenada'. The original tune is an old Polish cocktail-lounge classic from the late 70's, transformed here into a psychedelic story of epic proportions.Moody loops evoke instant headnodding and added dub effects magnify the nostalgic, sunny vibe.

The Very Soviet Cut-Outs

photo:
a propos:
Brand new excursion into eastern territories curated by Zambon of The Very Polish Cut-Outs and Transatlantyk fame. Five obscure disco tracks from late Soviet era edited, reworked and remixed into dancefloor bliss by creme de la creme of Russian and Belarusian producers.Among the editors we will find Leonid Lipelis (known from collaborating with Brennan Green and his own label That's A Steal, here working under the alias Beard In Dust), Moscow based diggers crew Shiny Boots Grodno based edit wunderkind Schmoltz, St. Petersburg's Krjuk and The Papers from Ekaterinburg.Tracks range from Balearic pop stomp of Alla Pugacheva's 'Kafe', through to the blue-eyed Slavic soul of Tatiana Kochergina, to big band funk full of breaks and even Russian disco rap with baby scratches!

The Very Polish Cut Outs Sampler Vol.4

photo:
a propos:
Another bunch of successful edits on the unstoppable TVPC label. It's fourth sampler (and already a seventh record in label history) covers a wide array of exceptional gems, spanning from balearic pop, through electro disco, to slavic soul and disco funk. All tracks come from the late 70's and early 80's Poland and were carefully reworked by some of the finest young producers from the country, keen to pay homage to their musical roots. The A-Side is owned by the young and talented Karol Aleksander, who brings two of his most popular reworks to the table. A1, which clocks around 100 bpm, is an irresistible combination of sportive, yet modest groove with slick, sexy female vocals. A2 on the contrary is a melancholy-filled piece of Balearic house, based on old Polish pop track with addictive piano lines triggering the feeling of nostalgia for something that passed imperceptibly.Italo-fueled dancefloor madness opens the B-Side, curated by Kracow based combo of Unitrax & Radar groups. Four deejays, who usually are affiliated with deeper side of electronic spectrum, play around with rather unusual track lifted from Polish rock group debut album. B2 is handled by Polish house wunderkind Selvy, who closes the record with a touch of classy Indian summer vibes. The most beautiful moments of the short original version are extended with a great effect. All in all another must have in The Very Polish Cut-Outs catalogue!
