Family Dinner EP

#5 brings you the trademark Frits Wentink sound we've come to love through his recent output on Wolf, 2020Vision and Wolfskuil Catchy synth loops, distorted basses, and some funky-ass grooves. With "Shrewd, he throws in a few sexy female vocal snippets and a lovely arp, while "Ligament" flows along on a rough kick, an equally gritty vocal and a driving portamented pad that filters in and out."Sauce" features Dutch singer Loes Jongerling and makes for a wonderful combination with her silky soft voice and Frits' warehouse style percussion." If I was to gravy you" follows up on with the same rawness in the beats and a lovely sample that you'd love the girl next to you to whisper in your ear time after time "I like it like that baby….Sincerely yours, Lars & Maarten

Break Up to Make Up EP

photo:
a propos:
First EP of the label by the label-bosses themselves; Detroit Swindle - Releases on Freerange, Dirt Crew, Saints & Sonnets and more - Just back from their first US tour in May 2013 - Pressing on 180 grs black vinyl Info: It's not often that silly, boyish dreams come true. But, if you take a closer look at our past 12 months, dreams seem to come true every other day. We've had a great year with releases on such great labels and had the opportunity to play our music all over the world and we've enjoyed every minute of this musical rollercoaster. And today, we've got another dream that's turning into reality: We're starting our own label. This is Heist Recordings, and you're looking at our very first release. We're extremely proud to share this two track EP of our own music with you and we hope you'll like it as much as we do. The break up is a track that checks all the boxes of the signature DS sound. An infectious set of airy chords, a bumpy bass-line and a lush female vocal give the track that feeling that bridges everything we love about the house from back in the days with the things that get everyone excited today. The make up is a deeper track, but still a genuine house tune, with some repetitive almost hypnotic vocals and stabs and of course, a pumping groove. You'll lose track of everything halfway through the break, but as soon as the beat kicks in, you know its business time. This is just the first step. Enjoy it, and be sure to keep an eye out for more of Heist in the near future. Sincerely yours, Detroit Swindle

The Very Polish Cut-Outs Vol.5

photo:
a propos:
All good things come to an end, and The Very Polish Cut-Outs is no different. The fifth sampler will be the last in the much loved & long running series. For the farewell record, label boss Zambon has selected five unique reworks from top producers from Poland and beyond.Side A is aimed at the dancefloor. 'KIEDY BYLEM MALYM CHLOPCEM' was the biggest hit in the long career of Tadeusz Nalepa, the king of Polish blues. The irresistible, smooth guitar groove is combined with conscious lyrics about different views of what's important at different stages of life, served in the form of a conversation between father and son. Miod crew transform this beautiful song into peak-time killer, tailored exactly for the needs of a modern dancefloor.Moscow's man of the moment Beard In Dust edits 'BIALA SOWA, BIALA DAMA, BIALY KRUK' by Kram into a flawless disco funk bomb, fuelled by cheesy synth action. A slice of Eastern European B-Boy disco breaks.Side B brings more ethereal and psychedelic flavours to the table. 'NA KOLANA PASTUSZKOWIE' comes from Laboratorium, Poland's answer to Weather Report. Their unique take on fusion is remixed here by Daniel Drumz, one of the heroes of Polish hiphop & beat scene. This longtime turntablist leaves his rap roots and travels to the psychedelic coast to bring you an amazing piece of Baltic Beat.Last two tracks are chopped and looped by Australian hero Carpentaria in a truly Balearic fashion. 'ZA OSTATNI GROSZ' by Budka Suflera charms the listener with dripping pianos and a misty, endless soft rock groove (with added swirling synths played here by Brennan Green himself), while ZACZAROWNE MIASTO by Kombi is a dark, cinematic piece of slow synth pop.It may be the end, but The Very Polish Cut-Outs finishes off in fine style.

Feeling Good/Land Of Leaping No No (Ha-Ka-Cha)

auteur:

photo:
a propos:
Produced by Philadelphia's Legendary Sonny Hopson, Santiago is Indeed Neftali Santiago from Mandrill who took a break from the band in 1975 and did a little experimenting, this came out of a 6 hour sessions in which 3 tracks were recording, two being on this 45 and is Santiago's only lead vocal to date . The band lasted a year in that time supporting Gil Scott Heron and The Ohio Players live. A two sided disco stormer with all the right ingredients, great guitar hook, solid horn section and great vocal.Essential Disco

Well Good

photo:
a propos:
Very Very rare slow burning funk45 recorded in 1973 Youngstown, Ohio. The band were local heros but never made it out of their locality, many still playing today. This one 45 (as far as i know) is a document to their skills. A killer funk 45 and a Grade A Sweet soul side. Line up is Mike Ohara on Guitar, Timbo on Bass, Reggie Manley on Sax, Chris Mcfarren on Trumpet, Norman Weatherly on Organ and Ben Powers Jr onDrums. This 45 is strictly limited to 500 copies.

Macumba/Baoba

auteur:

photo:
a propos:
Our leading lady of the series, Claudia, is back once again, this time with double A side.'Macumba' is taken from one of her several self-titled LP’s, the one in question released in 1970 on Premier, Brazil. Sought after in its original form.Psychedelic, orchestral, MPB, exotica with hints of Bollywood! Horns strings and spaced out male vocals back Claudia's amazing lead. Highly unique.'Baoba' is taken from Claudia's all killer no filler Jesus Cristo LP, from Odeon released in 1971. Heavy on the strings and tough on the funk drums, before it breaks into a vocal jazz section, then back into the groove. Reminiscent of Swedish folk-funk singer Doris, whose album we reissued in the past.

Olhos Coloridos/Bons Tempo: Sao Paulo Edit tags

photo:
a propos:
'Olhos Coloridos' is an 80's MPB/boogie jam, thats sits perfectly alongside the likes of Maia, Valle, Jorge and Olivetti. Backed here, by some of the members from Banda Black Rio. Taken from her self-titled 1982 LP on RGE Brazil.'Bons Tempo Sao Paulo (Good Times)' was originally released on a rare promo only 7" from 1980, this is a Brazilian boogie version of Rapper's Delight / Good Times by Chic, voiced by radio DJs from Sao Paulo especially for the Christmas holiday season! The replayed version of 'Good Times' stands up to the Chic version, and the added cuica heavy percussion breakdown gives it the true Brazilian flavour.

Why Can't We Live Together

auteur:

photo:
a propos:
Official re issue of this timeless classic featuring a fantastic update from Australia's Late Nite Tuff Guy - Tuff Cut Records. Their version has already had 62,000 plays on Soundcloud. In LNTG own words of how "No More War Rework" came around : About 6 months ago, just before I set off on my 5 month tour of Europe I got a message from a good friend of mine asking me if I would edit a track that he loves. I said of course, and asked him what track. Turns out its a big favourite of mine also. 'Why Can't We Live Together' by Timmy Thomas is an amazing song with a strong message that is even more relevant today than it was back in 1972. The message is clear, it's simple, it's beautiful. I'm saddened by recent events around the world and I've always tried to spread love through music, because for me, music is love. I hope you share the message and enjoy. LNTG <3
