A staple of the west coast music scene, Dawn can be found tearing it up as a vocalist, arranger, and go-to for live performances and studio sessions with acts like 1Luv (Sonar Kollektiv), and The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer. The time has finally come to unveil her highly anticipated debut solo album Say Somethin'.The ten distinctive contemporary soul tracks on the album highlight the deep-rooted passion of Pemberton's gospel background. "I've always got a rhythmic stream running through me at all times. It's all about the groove for me," Pemberton explains. She enlisted some of the finest west coast musicians including: Johnny Andrews (Drums), Scott Tucker (Bass), Gavin Youngash (Guitar), Max Zipursky (Keys), Raphael Geronimo (Percussion), Colin Maskell (Saxophone) and Kristian Naso (Trumpet). Say Somethin' is a place where swirling organs, punchy horns, rhythmic guitar lines meet syncopated jazz funk grooves.

Proto-house classic 'Nightgruv' gets a re-release and includes a longer unreleased edit! James Mason is mostly known for his late 70's album 'Rhythm Of Life', which is a soul-jazz classic. Soon after music trends shifted to (electronic) disco and James' music became out of fashion, leaving 'Rhythm Of Life' to be the only album he released to date.The early early 80′s saw him have a few studio sessions from which more electronic output like Wuf Ticket’s ‘The Key (Prelude Records) resulted. James also produced various disco acts like Disco 3, Earl Flint and Brenda Bayton.However, most of his early 80s studio sessions have remained unreleased until today. ‘Nightgruv’, which was recorded in 1984, did eventually get a release when it was picked up 12 years later (!) by a small UK indie label and was again reissued in 2000 by Soul Brother. Both pressings are still highly sought after and go for a lot of money on Discogs, mostly to do with the timeless nature of this prototype house wonder, which sounds like a recording Larry Heard never made. A magically seductive groove, recorded at a time when house was still in its infant years.Not only is this release offering a remastered version of the original, it also includes an unreleased edit which stretches the original to a cool 6 minutes. The B-side features the epic 11 minute original version of 'I Want Your Love', a soul classic. Comes with original artwork!

Nice 12 by freestyle soul vocalist Jennette who was only 14 years old when she sang on this record ! Produced by Amos Larkins II aka Leon Green. Jennette was introduced to Amos Larkins, from his friend Julio Ferrer, who at the time was dating Jennette's mom...Amos Larkins II aka Leon Green from Sunnyview and TK Studios record labels also produced other freestyle hits, like Connie's - Funky Little Beat and also grew up and made music with STEVIE - B in The Richmond Heights Projects in South Florida, also produced for Cynthia Roundtree as well as many other artists. He learned from the best in Florida " King Sporty " , aka Noel Williams of Konduku and Tashamba labels.
