Superconcious present a further evolution for Melbourne producer András (Fox). Looney house recorded with DIY immediacy, this fresh 5 tracker takes subtle cues from Cajmere, Pal Joey and lesser known 90s Australian cuts culled from the 3RRR FM library.'T.N.T.F.' was the fastest track András had even written until revving the Pajero offroad and clocking 138 bpm on 'Always Pumping'. On the two mixes of 'Gold Coast', he finds heaven in a tourist hell, making hotel room acid before hitting the balcony for some cool breakbeat over a Bacardi and coke. The absurdity continues with the horny-Australiana disco of 'Soy Boy', rounding off a welcome return to his inimitable solo work.

Why Can't We Live Together

auteur:

Official re issue of this timeless classic featuring a fantastic update from Australia's Late Nite Tuff Guy - Tuff Cut Records. Their version has already had 62,000 plays on Soundcloud. In LNTG own words of how "No More War Rework" came around : About 6 months ago, just before I set off on my 5 month tour of Europe I got a message from a good friend of mine asking me if I would edit a track that he loves. I said of course, and asked him what track. Turns out its a big favourite of mine also. 'Why Can't We Live Together' by Timmy Thomas is an amazing song with a strong message that is even more relevant today than it was back in 1972. The message is clear, it's simple, it's beautiful. I'm saddened by recent events around the world and I've always tried to spread love through music, because for me, music is love. I hope you share the message and enjoy. LNTG <3

New York's Movin'

auteur:

photo:
a propos:
One of the most powerful Disco Cuts in the P&P Affiliate “Land of Hits” Label, New York’s Movin’ is faithful to the name. A seven-plus minute Disco Gem of percussive breakdowns, a solid bass groove, classic strings, and enough guitar licks to make Nile Rodgers a little jealous. Released in 1981, Ahzz was a studio project by Osborne Hunter and Steve Boston who's better known for his work with Kenny Lehman on Roundtree and Lemon. Despite the Backlash of Comiskey Park’s Disco Demolition in 1979 and the commercialization of Disco, it was clear New York City was Still Movin’ in '81. Underground hits like these were just undeniable. Like a lot of the titles on Peter Brown’s labels, today New York’ Movin’ is a rare and highly sought after record. A holy grail for many. Go Ahead, check Discogs then thank the Disco Gods for this re-issue. Let’s Keep on Movin’.

Dance Dance Dance

auteur:

photo:
a propos:
This monster Underground Disco classic was produced by the legendary Patrick Adams and it’s considered to be one of his best and rarest pressings. Released in 1977 on P&P Records, “Dance Dance Dance” was ahead of its time laying ground for the signature sound he’d soon to be known for on productions for the likes of Inner Life, Loleatta Holloway, Bumblebee Unlimited, and Musique. This Classic release combines a smooth blend of Latin rhythms, an infectious bass line and Arp keyboards that create a dubbed out cosmic vibe, while Marta Acuna’s dreamy vocals glide in and out. This is the perfect tune to close out an evening of hot summer dancing, a NYC Disco Classic. This Highly sought after and extremely rare 12” has seen other lives as well, heavily sampled in Underground House tracks like Alex Neri’s “Planet Funk” and covered by Joey Negro and his Sunburst Band.“Absolute disco classic right here… out on P&P back in 1977. One of our favorites…a record everyone needs to hear.” - Bicep

Out Of Work

auteur:

photo:
a propos:
There is no doubt Peter Brown’s P&P is one hell of an eclectic label. Enter Jesse Gould’s Powerful protest song ‘Out of Work’. A song that could have easily fit better at the Harlem Cultural Festival in the summer of ’69 than at a Disco in ’77. A regular at David Mancuso’s Loft, this fast-paced Funk Jam Borderlines Disco. However more Sly Stone than Disco Inferno, the realities of Harlem were all here on display. Produced and arranged by Billy Nichols, ‘Out of Work’ showcases the qualities that made him famous - Funky Rhythms rooted from his time at Motown, Big Strings and special attention to the Drum Section. Another incredibly rare record, another incredible opportunity to own what the Disco Black Market has priced for more than a Day’s Work minimum wage.

Kev Beadle Presents Best Of Inner City Records

photo:
a propos:
Kev Beadle is back on BBE with his new compilation Best Of Inner City Records.Created by industry legend, MMO Music Group founder and true godfather of karaoke (but that’s another story) Irv Kratka alongside producer Eric Kriss, Inner City Records was formed in 1976. During its decade or so in existence, the label put together a formidable catalogue of jazz music and was voted Record Label Of The Year in 1979 by the International Jazz Critics Poll. As well as ‘classic jazz’, the label also gave a platform to more avant-garde material and dabbled in the emerging ‘jazz fusion’ sounds of the day. Fondly remembered by jazz lovers everywhere, the label boasts a particularly fervent fan-base in London, where many of its releases found favour in the underground dance clubs of Soho and Convent Garden. Fittingly enough, London DJ and tastemaker Kev Beadle is the man chosen to put together this very special compilation of Inner City’s finest moments. Having previously curated projects for labels such as Blue Note and Cadet, Kev has dug deep in the crates to emerge with this gem of an album. From the soaring vocals of the jazz-fusion classic ‘The Other World’ by Judy Roberts to the irrepressible dance-floor fire of Eddie Jefferson’s ‘Jeannine’, ‘The Best Of Inner City Records’ serves as a wonderful and eclectic introduction to a label which is rightly remembered with a level of affection which borders on reverence.KEY SELLING POINTS• limited edition double 180g vinyl and premium quality gatefold packaging• First ever retrospective of the label with full support from the founder Irv Kratka• Coverage assured on relevant websites & magazines, with full press & radio campaign in key territories

LIMITED EDITION , COLORED VINYL !!!!Orgone is one of the most exciting bands in the new generation of funk bands, led by the powerhouse vocals of Adryon de Leon, Orgone recalls such legendary groups as Rufus and Sly & The Family Stone at their best! The band has backed Alicia Keys on her As I Am album and Cee Lo Green on his Grammy-winning track Fool for You.Beyond The Sun is the most complete fulfillment of Orgone s full spectrum of sound, ranging from the in the pocket funk of Don’t Push Your Luck to the evocative balladry of No Pain to the clubby-jam of the title track and the scorching instrumental workouts on Meat Machine and Sabi. A highlight is a hot version of Rufus I m A Woman (I m A Backbone).

For The Record

auteur:

photo:
a propos:
Inside of the bay area’s sweater funk crew is k-maxx, one of modern funk’s most prolific voices and producers to emerge over the last half dozen years. K-maxx lets it be known on ‘For The Record’ that he is in a lane of his own. As soon as you hear the game within the sexy dialog and his infectious voice that hypnotizes you over his masterful arrangements, there is no doubt he’ll have you coming back for more. Only someone who baptizes his whole city every week with the gospel of the funk can write like he does, let alone transcend the vibe of every dude in the city moving through ladies they can’t let go. That’s real life transcended on ‘For The Record’, K-Maxx has walked through the darkness with the torch of his music, lifting the experience of his record to a plateau where we doubt he’ll be a underground secret for much longer. K-Maxx’s production wizardry is just as masterful as the wind through the pipes, as he clowns the lyrical boundaries of love songs with stuffin for your muffin, then lights it up on the one with masterful 808 breakdowns just for fun, forever cementing his place in modern funk for the record.
