Le Premier Disco Sans Toi

photo:
a propos:
Favorite Recordings proudly presents Le Premier Disco Sans Toi, new single EP by Andre Solomko, pursuing a collaboration that started more than 5 years ago. Born in Ukraine in 1965 and now based in Finland, Andre Solomko is primarily a rich and engaging personality, but above all, a brilliant saxophonist, composer and engineer, whose contagious passion cannot leave anyone indifferent. Announcing a new album planned for 2018, this new EP unveils two new compositions with Disco flavors. Andre’s backed again by a team of great musicians and vocalists, such as Mr Day and Lili Wagner on “Le Premier Disco Sans Toi” (The First Disco without You), or Charlotta Kerbs on “Moonbeach Disco”. And if not really the first, this Disco journey fits perfectly with Andre Solomko’s Jazz-Funk style and sense of melody, showing another facet of his many talents.

I'm Gonna Mis Ya

photo:
a propos:
More fire from Aaron Broomfield's archive, here we have two sought after sides. 'I'm gonna miss ya' was transferred from tapes by Aaron himself and is a brilliant boogie joint that's highly coveted on many scenes for good reason. On the flip we have got the super rare and relatively unknown 'Does Anybody Really Know', one for the heads, no master exists for this but Jeremy Underground kindly lent me his minty copy to master from, Jeremy is a man who possess extremely good taste in Modern Soul and Disco and who we will be working with more in the future…

Ain't It Time

auteur:

a propos:
Disco Stomper with Diva Vocals.Another extremely rare underground record on P&P. This time however and quite shockingly not a Patrick Adams or a Greg Carmichael production. Nonetheless “Ain’t it time” is a massive Disco cut written, arranged and produced by Arthur Manning and P. J. Wyatt paired with great Vocals by Soul, Disco and Gospel vocalist Gwendolyn Dennison better known for her stage name as Queen Yahna. Queen Yahna's Career has seen her perform on Broadway as Maria in the Hit Musical, "Porgy & Bess" and the National Company of "The Wiz" as "Evillene". Based in Berlin, Germany, Queen Yahna has had a successful career outside theater as well, cutting a few dance records over the years.

Just U And Me

photo:
a propos:
Nigeria’s Kingsley Bucknor’s ‘Just U and Me’ LP gets the long-awaited reissue treatment from Melbourne’s Left Ear Records. After cutting his teeth playing with Fela in the 70’s and releasing two afrobeat LP’s Kingsley travelled the globe before finding himself in London, it’s here that he laid down 6 distinctive electro-funk tunes inspired by African rhythms and music he’d heard through his travels in the States and in Europe. Originally issued on Kinglsley’s own KAB records in ’85 and according to Kingsley the release was well received at the time, but due to constraints of international marketing the record remained mostly unknown outside of his homeland. Fast-forward to 2017 and the stage is set for a new global audience to appreciate the distinct sound of KB.

Life On Mars/The Sweetest Pain

photo:
a propos:
Yet another highly in-demand 12" from the Philadelphia International stable and an artist whose records never go out of date! This is a killer double-sided beauty with the frenetic and jazzy "Life On Mars" from his debut 1976 album on the top-side and the mellow all-time classic and soul boy anthem "The Sweetest Pain" from 1979 on the flip. Two very different sides of a great artist, both of which show the level of diversity that he was capable of producing. The last legitimate release of this was back 1999 and a Mint copy will currently set you back circa £50, if you can ever find one.Fully remastered on limited edition 180 gram heavyweight vinyl.

Programmed For Love

auteur:

a propos:
Taken from his 'You Might Be Surprised' album from 1985 and produced by James Mtume with additional help from Tawatha & Philip Fields (of Aurra & Mtume) as well as David Frank (of The System), this 12 inch has long been sought after by Roy Ayers fans with the release changing hands for over £100 regularly on Discogs. This mid tempo joint with forward thinking lyrics, a great 808 beat and beautiful chords is sophisticated, yet hood. Reissued for the first time, don't miss this opportunity to own this slice of mid 80's Roy Ayers.

Stars in Your Eyes/Saturday Night

photo:
a propos:
Prime are proud to announce another belter of a double-sided monster. Welcome to the brilliant Herbie Hancock with the always in-demand slinky groover Stars In Your Eyes on the much coveted 11.21 "special disco remix".This is quite simply one of the smoothest Disco rides you will ever take with a production made in heaven and a vocalist supreme with Gavin Christopher taking it to another level. Find an original U.S. promo of this if you can. There's lookalikes about which are inferior quality! As if that wasn't enough, we've only gone and paired it with the hugely rare U.S. promo-only 12" "special disco remix" of the scintillating Saturday Night. This is as rare as hens teeth and you'd be lucky to find a mint one for less than £50.Featuring an extended percussion break from the fantastic Sheila E, this a very different mix to the original album version and was never widely circulated at the time.So another nice rare gem. As double-siders go, this really takes some beating. Order with confidence because this will still be selling for years to come.
