Amsterdam native Mr Mendel continues to churn out top notch edits at a steady pace in between crate digging and gigs around the world.This second 12" for Basic Fingers is a welcome follow up to his previous release which featured Fela & Gil.On release no.28 he's dug even deeper than last time and found not one, two or three but four absolute killer songs to take his razor sharp blade to.No messing around, Mr Mendel aims straight for the top with these joyful disco cuts.

For the sixth release on People Must Jam, we headed to Poland to find two very special guys that make up Ptaki. 180g Vinyl - Strictly limited.Ptaki have been making ripples around the world for their unique approach to putting together a record or two and having just recently dropped their album Przelot those ripples have turned to waves. We are proud to announce their new record - Antypody that will possibly turn those waves tidal!Ptaki have delivered a wonderful varied EP with four different cuts.Kicking off with the crazy uptempo Hi-NRG disco cut Milosc after which the record moves into the more gorgeous Balearic territory of Termy. This blew us all away when we first heard it.On the flip Lotnik showcases some solid house roots before the EP ending on the porn sampling and rather brilliant Radio Roman.We are really stoked to have these boys on board for what we feel is going to be a very sought after record.

Mr Mendel's disco credentials have been growing steadily in stature over the last few years. Here the Dutch boogieman drops two killer jams for the Disco Deviance imprint.Both demonstrate his clean and tidy approach to editing which focuses on the quality of the original source material and a delicate desire to enhance and ease only the very best out of the music he loves so much. As such he owes much to his Chicago mentor and good friend Rahaan whose influence and sound can be detected in these reworks.This is of course a good thing. Enjoy the music! Mr Mendel does.

Initially started as an excuse for Eric Duncan and friends to release pitched-down reworks of suitably cosmic jams, the New York Edits series has taken on a life of its own over the last 18 months. No doubt this fifth installment will become as in-demand as the previous installments, thanks in no small part to the suitably chugging chop-up of David Keaton's stoner disco fave "Gloria" on the flip. The NY Edits version is, predictably, even more baked, working the killer, organ-laced, clavinet-heavy groove for longer before introducing Keaton's half-whispered vocal. The A-side is more in keeping with the smacked-out feel of the series, with grandiose analogue synthesizer lines riding a delay-laden blue-eyed soul groove. Serious sleaze.

Further heat from Gay Marvine, brightening up every floor with powerful uplifting DJ tools, the essence of the heat of the party. This time we have lost disco classic that just gets you burning, the funk of War given the perfect disco treatment, Diana giving it to you like only she could (and later Michael would, his exact staccato style), and luv tempo of factory favorites who later had a member who completed her PhD in the cultural politics of the house music aesthetic in 1995.

The third installment by Dj Rahaan for the Kat label kicks off in fine fettle with a rather large take on Jackey Beavers 'Mr Bump Man'. Originally released on the Seventy-Seven label in 1974, Rahaan takes the madly infectious rhythm section, screaming vocals, guitar licks, driving bass then teases all before him stretching things out into a 9 minute (and 22 seconds to be precise) disco funk epic.On the flip we have Rahaans take on Michael Whites epic jazz-funker 'So Good To Me' followed by 'Be Thankful', his edit of The Intruders 1975 version of 'Be Thankful for what you got'.Rahann Edits Vol 3 back in stock.
