Bobby Hammiltons band Anibus only managed to released this single extremely collectable deep Spiritual funk 45, the single didn't gain the movement they hopes and the bands went their separate ways leaving this one amazing 7 inch reproduced here. Bobby is still alive and well so lets put things right and get things right and get this record on the turntable, a truly classy, deep and mindful 45.

Super Black/Everyday People

photo:
a propos:
One of the rarest funk 45s in existence and the rarest 45 on Ellis Taylor's Forte label flipped with a previously unreleased acetate (has a little bit of background noise but what you gonna do when there is only one copy in the world, we did out best to make it sound good and it does). Both tracks are stone cold Deepfunk killers. Super Black is from the tapes and sounds amazing (better than the original) so go destroy a club with this.

Hot Oklahoma Nights

photo:
a propos:
Uptown Syndicate Band was formed in Norman,Oklahoma May 1971. The band spanned nine years and had nearly 50 members. Uptown were renowned for high energy performances of Funk, Rhythm and Blues with soulful ballads mixed in Uptown was born out of the fraternity and sorority parties at Oklahoma University, especially the Alpha-Phi-Alpha and as their popularity grew, encompassing campuses all over. Considered locally as the top show bands rivaling the Gap Band of Tulsa, yet still only managed to record 2 solitary singles, probably due to a hard touring regime. The group consisted of a powerful horn section, two strong vocalists, and a serious rhythm section that would have matched JBs, The fact they never recorded a few Lps is a crying shame, but here we have their 4 recordings in their delightful and varied glory"Fast Moving, High Stepping, Moving and Grooving to the beat of the Uptown Syndicate Show."

Mr. Magic/Talking About My Baby

photo:
a propos:
Jazzman Records released the Holy Grail LP of John Heartsman. I did my own edit of 'Mr. Magic' whilst mastering the LP and spun it since then on Dub but never thought to put it out. It fixes the D.J Kryptonite fade-in so it's straight in on the action and much more dj friendly, not rocket science but it works. Bang it on with 'Talking About My Baby' on the flip and you have a brilliant 45.

Listen/Party

photo:
a propos:
Another Virtue super rarity this month, so obscure it's not even well known on the Funk45 scene although noted collectors Ian Wright and DJ Shadow have played it out in the past. Both sides are solid kid funk with a weird cool vibe that makes this 45 totally unique . Don't expect to see the O.G for less than $1500, not that you will ever see it. One for the heads.

Everything That Looks Good

auteur:

photo:
a propos:
A blues funk masterpiece, Charles 'Bubba' Suggs released 3 (i think) 45's, this being his crowning achievement. First rediscovered and spun by legendary Essex collector Ian Wright after buying it blind (guessing it might be good as it looked rare and was unknown in the days before sound clips) on ebay. The record has remained extremely elusive due to it being a privately pressedClarksville, Tennessee45 and never nationally distributed. It has always been coveted across collectors and DJ and Collector circles and by myself, we are very proud to be bringing you a legit and rather tastly sounding reissue of this belter.

Well Good

photo:
a propos:
Very Very rare slow burning funk45 recorded in 1973 Youngstown, Ohio. The band were local heros but never made it out of their locality, many still playing today. This one 45 (as far as i know) is a document to their skills. A killer funk 45 and a Grade A Sweet soul side. Line up is Mike Ohara on Guitar, Timbo on Bass, Reggie Manley on Sax, Chris Mcfarren on Trumpet, Norman Weatherly on Organ and Ben Powers Jr onDrums. This 45 is strictly limited to 500 copies.

Cookin'

photo:
a propos:
In the 70's one of the most Unique Texas band Emerged on the Scene, 'Tortilla Factory ' whilst primarily in the Texas Chicano scene they produced a couple of funk bangers dispersed amongst their many eclectic LPs, the band was renowned for their high calibre is Musicianship and whilst the might now be not typical of their sound they still bring it to the table better than some straight funk bands. Big shout out to Alfredo Guerrero for making this happen. I no longer have to drag around the LPs.

Would You Believe In Me/A Sunny Day

auteur:

photo:
a propos:
I would hope that Jon Lucien is a household name to you, if not welcome, come in sit down and relax. To generify (is that a word) his music is impossible. Spitual folk funk with splashes of Brazilian, Caribbean, soul and Jazz. This 45 was simple, I took the two records I have consistently played for the last 20 years on LP and put them on a 45, both for the first time and both from brand new masters which sound spanking. If you don't have Jon's albums seek them out now, some of the most classic Jazz funk ever...,.

You Better Stop It/Do Love You

photo:
a propos:
Another personal mission was to reissue this legit so here we are STRICTLY 500 ONLY, NO REPRESS. Barbara Masons 'You Better Stop It' is a perfect peace of crossover perfection. Probably slightly disregarded on the Northern Soul Scene dancefloor wise recently although undoubtedly appreciated by many). The early 2000s Deepfunk scene and Euro Soul scene embraced this record tricky rhythm and rightly so Barbara Mason's vocal smashes it. When I used to do a regular Tuesday night in Edinburgh it was requested second only to Fredrick Hymes III. If you're not feeling this, quitOn the flip we got Barbara Mason's classic slowy 'Do I Love You' one for the heads or Lowrider team. First time on 7" for this huge LP spin, stone cold classic.
