Weekend Loving from Jennifer Lara is a perfect blend of boogie funk, roots reggae and lovers rock. Produced by Black Solidarity Records in 1985, this album is a masterpiece from the Studio One princess. Recorded at Tuff Gong and Music Mountain studios in Jamaica, the rhythm tracks are played by some of the best musicians from the island in the sun: Lincoln ‘Style’ Scott (Drum), Errol ‘Flabba’ Holt (Bass), Robbye Lyn (Piano & Synthetiser), Dean Frazer & Ronald ‘Nambo’ Robinson (Horns). This reissue was carefully remastered from master tape, now presented as a double LP 45 rpm DJ friendly edition. The original Limonious artwork was reloaded and a bonus track was added to complete the set: ’In My Time’, an obscure slow synth groove, full of hope and melancholy.

Emotional Rescue and Jamwax come together to present the first of three essential 12”s from NY/Jamaican label Capo Disco, all officially licensed and remastered for the first time. The brainchild of reggae vocalist, musician, producer and label owner Glen Adams, the label married disco with his Caribbean roots to perfection. Here then the spotlight is on Adam’s nascent disco releases and the series starts with the wonderful, uplifting A Beat For You. Actually appearing on a one off sister-label, Top Secret, this is a beautiful “Lovers” anthem from Adams over a laidback dub-bass riddim. Backed with a simple instrumental Version, the space and interplay of the keys and guitar over drum and bass is superlative. “There is a beat in my heart, just for you…just for you.”

Get Pissed is a french duo known in Paris for their popular "Wrecka Spinazz Club" and "Belleville Boogie" parties that included Daniele Baldelli, Margie, Boris from Ostgut etc on the bills. They are signing here singular ruff mpc tracks for their debut ep that has an uncommon signature between jazz, techno and deep beatdown. Laroye on flipside has been already in the "broken beat" game for a decade at least. You might remember his three Ep's on Faces Records including some kinetic space jazz remix from Inverse Cinematics better known today as MCDE.The french producer now based in Brighton delivers something special again, journeying through disco, jazz and those West London signature beats. MGBK001 is an EP of two halves. The A-Side bumps with two very deep house jams, whilst the B-Side sees a freestyle disco-jazz we call broken beats. Music for the mind, body and universal soul!.
