Each record comes in a hand silk-screened printed and stamped sleeve!The dreamteam of the highly successful first installment (JAMS001) teamed up again to share their love for raw and sample-based house music tunes produced on the MPC. Label artist Sam Irl and the man behind Jazz & Milk, Dusty never fail when it comes to layering colorful sample fragments and enriching them with raw beats and deep synthesizer chords."Broken Spell" starts off with a super moody atmosphere that slowly opens up until it reaches its energetic peak with bright synth stabs and a smooth bassline before colorful arpeggios are drifting the track into other spheres. "Love Prelude" has a rather dreamy vibe but its deep chord progressions and rough bass drums and claps create a truly unique contrast and a hypnotic atmosphere on top of it, while a later incoming bouncy bassline and dubby sample parts eventually pull you in cosmic dimensions!

Mona Musique is the imprint from Nick V, curator and resident DJ behind longstanding night Mona. First and foremost the vinyl-only label is an embodiment of the Parisian parties that have been bringing together Voguers, Waackers and club dancers for more than a decade.Calling once again on the production skills of Hugo LX - who featured on Mona Musique’s debut release – “NY Collage” reminds us why he is a firm favourite with label boss Nick V. A standout soulful bassline and trademark Hugo LX drum beat, makes this a sophisticated choice to lift up the dancefloor.Over on the B side is a remix from man of the moment Kaytronik. The DJ/producer veteran, also known as Karizma, has reworked the track to almost beyond recognition. Deep and dreamy, a new bassline gives it that raw kick, evocative of London in the later hours of the night.Closing off the EP is a remix of ‘Drifting Away’, Hugo LX’s aforementioned Mona Musique debut. Crafted by Ambrose, the production head behind releases on late 90s House labels Kif SA and Basenotic, he is also the imprint’s studio engineer. A fan of the Kenlou/MAW era, Ambrose’s rework remains true to the deepness of the original cut, but mixes things up with a tougher, harder-hitting edge and wonky keys.

Kêtu records started as a project which sells original vinyl discs with the aim of promoting African music of the Golden Age (1960-70). We have developed a large network in Africa to trace these original vinyl discs. We also organize events and sell the discs. Part of the profit is reverted to support local initiatives such as local orchestras, O.N.G. that help disables and schools.For this first single release, NKOTTI FRANCOIS, great Cameroonian artist of the 70s-80s and still active on the African scene, signs for a reissue of “MUWASO MWA LONGE” and “NJA KA”; two amazing titles from the LP Retro 2000.

Background Disco

Just say Background Disco and you’re quickly reminded of the super-groovy sound that pervaded certain sequences of 1970’s Italian films, generally set in discos or clubs with a strong presence of music. Soul, disco, and funk tracks playing in the background, between a dance on the floor and a glass of J&B at the counter, that were supposed not to overcome the dialogues. Two of these jewels, signed by Alessandroni for the sexy comedy FRITTATA ALL’ITALIANA (1976, Alfonso Brescia) and previously released by our label in the collection LOST & FOUND (Four Flies Records 2017), definitely deserve the upgrade to the 12’’ format. Therefore, they are proposed in a new edit designed for the dancefloor, each in a double version: the sung one (by lesser known Lorena, a member of Alessandroni’s vocal band I Cantori Moderni) and the instrumental one.
