A quartet of heavy reworks. Reginald Omas Mamode IV truly does what he does best, bringing a percussive, low-slung funk to one of the most ethereal and beautiful pieces of soul on the album, Sunshine.Glenn Astro, elevates Bossa B to a jostling, bouncing shuffler that eventually turns around and heads skyward with uplifting chords and irresistible bass.Deoke heads into the darker regions of the original for his hugely loved remix of Bossa B.The bass on this one is ridiculous and has caused damage to a couple of sound systems we're aware of (genuinely).Finally the ever exceptional Mr Beatnick simply took the stereo track for Kalimba 2 and edited it into a mind-opening dub. Handling bass and harmonics as only he can, a true highlight of this high quality remix package.

Sterns Edits returns after the sell-out success of its debut edition with another two catalogue reworks from Ben Gomori. This time he turns his attention to Burkina Faso's much-loved taxi-driver-turned-singer, Amadou Balaké.Balaké ('porcupine' in Mandinka) is Burkina Faso's proudest musical export, and in 2013 he recorded his final album before passing away: 'In Conclusion'. The record saw him revisit some of his most popular tracks from his remarkable 50-year career, backed by an eight-piece Burkinabé band who took the country's traditional sounds and brought them into a contemporary light.Gomori retains the essence of the original recordings - which were mostly captured in one take - and marries them to vigorous afro-house stylings. 'Bar Konon Mousso (Musicien C'est Pas Quelqu'un)', in which Balaké tells of a bar lady being unimpressed by his profession, gets a gentle push towards the modern dancefloor, its wonderful sax lines resplendent. 'Massa Kamba' is taken for a drive down the more traditional route, with commanding drums bolstering the original grooves and a marvelous triple harmony brass section at its core. Balaké's freewheeling style suits the hypnotic feel of the edits to a tee.Sterns Edits is an official collaboration between African music stalwarts Sterns Music and London's Ben Gomori.

January 26th sees DJ Deep, Setaoc Mass and Akirahawks take control for the first of three drops on Parker's own Work Them Records imprint.Following months will see two further 12s surface with Radio Slave, Fettburger, ItaloJohnson, Rising Sun, Nic Fanciulli and Tijana T versions.Released on the Berlin-based label earlier this year, 'Different Shapes And Sizes' comprised three EPs which displayed a variety of Parker's house and techno directions.Subsequently, cuts from the EP have become summer staples for the likes of Ryan Elliott, The Black Madonna, Honey Soundsystem and Midland.On EP01, Parisian legend DJ Deep continues an amazing run of form this year with two subtle but powerful versions of 'Shape Fascination' while Homopatik and Buttons resident Akirahawks moulds 'Riff Shapes' into an off-kilter disco creeper.Work Them Records and Figure artist Setaoc Mass closes the EP with a strident interpretation of 'Shape Fascination'.

One of the rarest and most sought-after Italian holy grail soundtracks ever is finally back from the grave! Originally released in 1966 on Beat Records (45-BT 024), the KRIMINAL main theme was written by Romano Mussolini (Raymond Full in the opening credits) and Roberto Pregadio for this sleazy crime-pop movie directed by Umberto Lenzi, and based on the cult Italian comic hero. Actually, this could be considered one of the best swinging jazz-beat themes from the 60s, with its wonderful horn, acid vox continental organ, and terrific rhythmic guitar. On the B-side, we have another jewel from 1960s Italian spy-pop cinema: the main theme of “Il cobra” (from the Mario Sequi’s movie). This swinging and uptempo jazz-beat piece, written and conducted by the Spanish composer Antón García Abril, is a poisonous shake with a supergroovy mood – a double-sided floor-filler, not to be missed by any serious soul-jazz DJ.

Four Flies Records is proud to present the first vinyl reissue of the original soundtrack to IO EMMANUELLE (also known as A MAN FOR EMMANUELLE) – Cesare Canavari’s 1969 erotic-drama starring Italian scream-queen Erika Blanc.The score was composed and arranged by maestro Gianni Ferrio, who created one of his most famous and iconic soundtracks ever, with music that perfectly follows the neurotic character of the young protagonist – from moments of intimacy and introspection, to those of insanity and madness.The result is a terrific cocktail of late 60s Italian grooves: orchestral beat, RnB, jazz, and avant garde numbers, with an essential contribution of “I Cantori Moderni di Alessandro Alessandroni” (vocal and choir), and featuring Gino Marinacci on flute.One of the rarest records from CAM archives is finally back in the spotlight, remastered from original master tapes and pressed on 180gr vinyl, including an inner sleeve featuring original movie artwork by renowned Italian cinematic painter Sandro Symeoni.
