Ghetto Disco Records is a small, Edinburgh based, Disco Rework label, formed as the brainchild of Natasha and Dennis Probert (Daughter & Father Duo!)The popular radio show, hosted by the duo, 'Ghetto Disco' has acted a catalyst for this venture. After gaining increased popularity across the globe, Natasha & Dennis felt it was only natural to take their passion for music and vinyl that step further. With a stream of high quality re-work exclusives being sent into to be played on air, the opportunity arose to turn this into something more. This label aims to promote the high-end spectrum of the Disco edits scene with an array of prestigious producers that are popular within the modern Disco world. Each release will initially be limited edition to 500 copies with the opportunity to increase this, dependant on demand. The first release turns to one of Disco's hot tickets, Serge Gamesbourg. Serge has built up a strong reputation on the music scene through his fantastic productions that have been released on Rahaan's Street Edits label and Kon's recent compilation on BBE.The Cool, The Hip & The Square The Cool, The Hip & The Square" a cheeky take on the tune that inspired the record label. Sharp, funky tones with a contemporary vibe. Perfect for the dance floor, this track has already experienced fantastic feedback and demand. Whether it's a disco set or a funk set, this track will integrate seamlessly.Bring Them Back Together' is the epitome of the classic orchestral Philly sound brought up to date. Perfect material for a wam-up set that would also work oh so well in the sunshine.

For our first release of 2017 RNT welcomes HADE! Best known for his work on Local Talk and Basic Fingers, the Cologne native delivers a symmetrical 2 sides of disco edit barnstormers and downtempo head-nodders.From the beefy kick drum thump of Say What You Wanna Say and My Thang, to the obscure yet memorable sample sources of Jeep Cherokee XJ and Range Rover HSE, this is one to get the party shaking!

A seventh release on the Sunshine Sound label arrives and is likely to prove as irresistible as the previous tracks from acetates of some of disco's finest acts. Three previously unreleased gems from the source, only ever pressed to limited acetate during the early 70s to mid-80s and never released as these versions. This time Mr Mendel, Rob Manga & Illco from I Love Vinyl Amsterdam had the honour to rework these previously unreleased jewels.Side A starts with an edit by Rob Manga which will drive you onto the dance floor in 5th gear, with an infectious repetitive groove. What about love!? Followed by 'Peace of Mind', an edit of 'After Hours'. Though there's no information to be found about the group, the song itself is a mixture between modern soul, funk and disco. Slightly re-arranged and spiced up by Illco.Side B is a slowly evolving disco epos with big instrumentation and a pinch of glamour. Edited by Mr Mendel and fittingly titled 'Dr DJ'.

Always There/Always There (Kon Remix)

auteur:

photo:
a propos:
In 1978, famed Latin Jazz percussionist Willie Bobo released a promo-only 12” single featuring a “Special Disco Version” of “Always There”, a cut from his most recent album Hell of An Act To Follow. Pressed in extremely limited quantities and never available commercially, this 12” quickly became a highly sought-after rarity for DJs and collectors. Now, this lost treasure is back in print while supplies last, complete with an exclusive a new multitrack edit of “Always There” from DJ / crate-digger extraordinaire Kon (BBE / Soul Clap) on the B-side. Released in partnership with the Bobo family, this official pressing revisits a dance?oor-ready masterpiece.

Funkanova/Lowdown

auteur:

photo:
a propos:
Kon returns with a heavily anticipated multi track remix of Wood Brass & Steel's Funkanova, unearthing vocals that didn't make the original while beautifully stretching out and breaking down the lush layers of this loft classic. On the flip, is his take on the bands more obscure cover of Boz Scagg's Low Down, emphasizing a killer bassline to keep the dance floor rockin'.
