Rhythm Section International proudly presents it’s 8th offering from local boys Chaos in the CBD. Born in New Zealand, but based in Peckham for the last few years (literally just around the corner from Henry Wu and Bradley Zero), these brothers have made a real mark on the scene here in London town and with their latest set of productions are set to take this message further afield. Having already released internationally on labels such as ClekClekBoom (Paris), Hot Haus (London) and Amadeus (Montreal), the duo’s approach to production has matured immeasurably in the last year, as is evident in the restrained potency and poetic subtlety on the 4 tracks across this accomplished EP, Midnight in Peckham.Taking it’s title from the locale the boys have come to know as home, the record channels a delicate late night energy - equally indebted to the hypnotic incantations of Ron Trent as it is to the hazy suburban atmospheres of Burial. These 4 classic cuts pay homage to deep house in it’s truest sense - at once sublime, melancholy and meditative . Chaos in the CBD have clearly taken their cue from the mid-west masters of the genre but have not been afraid to let their own influences and environ creep in, and in doing so have created something that is unmistakablely London and infact, timeless.

After a string of well received releases on the likes of 22a and Alexander Nut’s Hotep, Henry Wu steps forth with his most bold statement to date with ‘Good Morning Peckham’ on the Rhythm Section International Imprint. Arguably one of the most hotly-tipped producers in the UK right now, Wu’s broken compositions and deep jazzy keys have earned him plaudits from scene veterans as well as peers, all keen to see what Henry will do next.With a refreshing take on rhythm and a virtuosic musicality born out of years of recording and touring as a session player, Henry Wu represents a brightly shining light in the already glowing London community.Equally adept on the keyboard as he is on the MPC, on Good Morning Peckham, we are also given a further insight into the mind of Wu as he takes to the mic - toasting along to the soon-to-be-classic ‘ Croydon Depot’ and spitting on the intro to the broken beat inspired ‘Neezy’.A South East Londoner born and bred, Henry’s debut on Rhythm Section has been a long time coming and it seems that it was worth the wait as Henry presents 6 tracks of white hot intention. Henry Wu is a name that we’re going to hear a lot more of in the future…. The second 12” off Bosq’s upcoming sophomore full-length takes on a darker and more agressive tone, enlisting the help of frequent collaborator Kaleta to get their powerful message across. The A-side features the familiar pairing of Bosq and Benin born & Nigerian raised singer Kaleta (formerly of Fela’s Egypt 80) on their heaviest collaboration to date. Kaleta laments the struggle of the common man on the first half of the song before both the music and the lyrics strike back urging a “take over” of those oppressive systems. The incessant rhythm and driving groove laying the perfect foundation, echoing Fela’s “Music Is The Weapon Of The Future” mantra. The B-side is another heavy slab of dense percussion and an afrobeat style horn section with a groove that falls somewhere between afro-latin, dancehall, and house. Horn genius Evan Laflamme handles the entirety of the section as well as ripping a Baritone solo that anchors the track in the middle and perfectly walks the line between musicality and groove. The 12” was envisioned and carried out during a time of immense frustration for the very politically minded Bosq and that emotion colors the sound of the record through both tracks.

Boogie Beats Records debut release is the little known band Bourbon And Maxx, Mystery Man was originally released on 12" in 1981 on Esscore Records, New Jersey USA, it was a very limited press, its highly collectable and rarely comes up for sale. The original clocks in at a whopping 10:25mins with a beautiful vocal intro, this band really is a family affair with several of the members being related, and you can hear how tight they were when you listen to this song, great drums and percussion, seriously thumping bass line, great guitar and piano work with that oh so soulful voice to top it off, this is one hell of a jam. We are also very proud to have MadDisco do an edit of this song, slightly rearranging and extending the best parts.

Brazilian Shakedown is back! The second release in this series brings you a collection of outstanding mixes by Rio de Janeiro's own Carrot Green. On the A Side you'll find 'Ponto Gira', which already is an underground anthem in Brazil. The traditional chanting, combined with CG's super groovy production will certainly also smash the European dance floors this summer. Good vibes galore! Straight after there's 'Movimento'. In this tune Carrot Green transforms roots music from the North-East of Brazil into an intense dance track, which mesmerizes with its passionate vocals and violin played in peculiar unison. The B Side takes off with a heavy nu-disco remix of 'Mariama'. The acidic bassline, calling vocals and wide synth-chords will make you feel like flying over the Brazilian seashore. The final destination of this journey leads you to the bass heavy 'Capoeira', where the classic Berimbau and hypnotic call-and-response vocals get dirty over a stomping groove. Badaross, who lives in the Streets of Sao Paulo created the cover-artwork for this release.

For those with a passion for the mid-80s sound of New York, the sporadic releases from Mark Seven's Parkway operation have always been essential listening. Taking influence from freestyle, the proto-house dubs of Paul Simpson, early garage, and '80s soul, the project's releases to date have been like a delicious blast from the past. "The Feeling" doffs a cap to all of these styles, with his usually authentic production (stuttering drum machine drums, reverb-laden vocals, killer tape edits etc) being joined by the kind of saucer-eyed melodies associated with early Balearic house. The alternative versions are good too, with the dub style "Can't Stop This Feeling", in particular, standing out.
