The Soviet Tape is a new collaboration between Fulgeance & DJ Scientist. Their debut single 'Moscow Nightlife' is the perfect introduction to their sound: heavy instrumental hip hop culled exclusively from Scientist's un-rivalled collection of vintage Soviet-era records. Scientist, one of Germany's most prolific record collectors (check out his incredible 'Soviet Grooves' mix for Solid Steel) dug out a slew of samples from his archives, enlisting Fulgeance (MPC virtuoso and one half of Souleance) who transformed the source material into a truly unique and original album.Taking forgotten records from Russia to Moldavia, The Ukraine, Georgia, Lithuania, Latvia and beyond, the duo have interspersed the largely instrumental album with skits culled from 60s CIA documentaries as well as vocal cuts featuring Blu, Open Mike Eagle and DistantStarr. This all adds up to a release that is both a throwback to the uncertain times of the Cold War and a tribute to the great depth of music that the former Union was responsible for. Standout tracks include the aforementioned 'Moscow Nightlife', the synth-heavy menace of 'Vendetta', and DistantStarr's laid-back rhymes on 'You Know'. With high-concept artwork from Emile Sacre, taking it's cue from original Soviet records, the album is in turns jazzy, psychedelic and soulful, but with hip hop at it's core. 2015 RSD item! Recordings from 2004 to 2011 in Los Angeles & London. Now available on vinyl for the very first time! In 2011 Hit+Run released the first beat tape by Kutmah entitled "Closure" [HNR15]. The legendary 12-song album consisted of tracks recorded between 2004 - 2011 in Los Angeles as well as his recently transplanted home of London. The cover art was pulled from his collection of drawings made while in US federal detainment, which was later turned into a traveling art show and accompanying book entitled "Two Soups And A Honeybun". In 2015, after the success of last year's vinyl reissue of Kutmah's "Black Wave Tapes" series, HIT+RUN has decided to press up "Closure" on limited-edition vinyl for the very first time [HNR15LP]. The 20-minute record consists of 9-tracks from the original album, all pressed on 10" opaque red wax, plus housed in a one-of-a-kind screenprinted jacket made by Hit+Run in Los Angeles."

This album was recorded in 1978 in Paris and released only in France in 1981.That was the first meeting between Don Cherry and Indian percussionist Latif Khan and the result is an incredible mixture of jazz and Indian music. This unsung album is only known by hardcore fans of Don cherry who considered it as one of his best effort.

A2 on the contrary is a melancholy-filled piece of Balearic house, based on old Polish pop track with addictive piano lines triggering the feeling of nostalgia for something that passed imperceptibly.Italo-fueled dancefloor madness opens the B-Side, curated by Kracow based combo of Unitrax & Radar groups. Four deejays, who usually are affiliated with deeper side of electronic spectrum, play around with rather unusual track lifted from Polish rock group debut album. B2 is handled by Polish house wunderkind Selvy, who closes the record with a touch of classy Indian summer vibes.The most beautiful moments of the short original version are extended with a great effect.All in all another must have in The Very Polish Cut-Outs catalogue!
