The Exotic Dance label from J. Albert and Person of Interest was inaugurated just over a year ago with the Dance Slow cassette from the former, a hefty 10-track CS that set the stylistic tone of rough round the edges house and techno. After the two shared sides on the label's debut 12", J. Albert mans this third Exotic Dance release which features a four-track clutch of highlights from the Dance Slow tape. Given the eminently danceable nature of the tape, this is a most smart move; as is including the seductive title track. Raw house burner "2AM" also features on the A-side, whilst the flip has the '80s flecked "My Passenger" and the blissful thumper "Truth & Understanding" which has a very familiar sampled hook wedged deep in the mix.

Charles Bradley is set to release his third album, Changes, on April 1st on Daptone Records. Rolling Stone named Changes one of the "Most Anticipated Albums of 2016," stating "The ageless, limitless 'Screaming Eagle of Soul' swoops back with Changes, an album named after Charles Bradley's affected rework of Black Sabbath's 1972 piano ballad."The remarkable against-all-odds rise of Charles Bradley since the release of his 2011 debut album No Time For Dreaming has been well documented. He transcended a bleak life on the streets and struggled through a series of ill-fitting jobs before finally being discovered by Daptone Records. The year following the release of No Time For Dreaming was one triumph after another including a breakthrough performance at SXSW, several television performances and having the album named to many year end "best of" lists. The soul singer's ascent continued with the 2013 release of his triumphant second album Victim of Love, which saw Bradley emerging from his past heartaches stronger and more confident, overflowing with love to share. With Changes, the powerhouse performer brings music fans of all ages another unforgettable set of songs and will continue to bring his live show to stages around the world.

On a fishing trip two years ago, the two main guys behind Africaine 808: D Leyers and Nomad - went to a tackle shop to buy some creepy crawlies (saltwater worms), not knowing that they were about to make a life changing discovery. In front of the shop a blind man was jammming on a little electronic organ, stomping his feet, singing, growling and basically making a scene.The boys were quite impressed with the fella, who introduced himself as 'Blind Double D'. They offered to bring him home and record him. He turned the offer down, but offered instead that they could record him on the spot in front of the tackle shop - if they bought him a bottle of good Bourbon. He explained that he would never set foot into a studio again in his life: he was sick of music production and the music industry in general, and that he just wanted this bottle of Bourbon and to be left alone.The boys got him the bottle, and recorded Blind D.D. on the spot with a tape recorder they borrowed from the tackle shop. Unfortunately, the tape was stored in one of the tackle boxes over the trip, and some of the creepy crawlies crawled into the tape and stank it all up. This added some extra funk to the recording. With Dirk and Nomad's usual studio trickery and production skills, they created the two versions of this very very funky, creepy, stanky track.We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do. When Greg Caz and Deano Sounds teamed up to create The Brasileiro Treasure Box Of Funk & Soul they created a collection of vintage Brazilian music that stretches across the scope of funk, soul, and psychedelic. Co-compiler and Brazilian music aficionado, Greg Caz says: “Without necessarily having a central theme other than funky nuggets from the first half of the 70s, we believe this compilation displays its own particular sense of logic, and that these songs ultimately all sound fantastic together. Regardless of one’s familiarity, or lack thereof, with artists like Antonio Carlos & Jocafi, Os Incríveis, Toni Tornado or Celia, the material on these 45s speaks its own truth and justifies their inclusion here. Many of these were originally available as singles, while others were taken from albums, but all are guaranteed to find their way into many DJ boxes and playlists.” The stunning 45s from this set will now be available for individual sale. The series continues with Tom Zé’s unstoppable riff on “Jimmy, Renda-Se” with Eduardo Araujo sounding a bit like a Brazilian Tom Jones on the B-side, “Kizumbau.” Also available this time out, the funked up deep groove “A Hora E Essa” from Celia with Franco’s jazzy funk cut “El, Voce, Psui!” on the flip.
