If You Dance Tonight/Say Yea

auteur:

photo:
a propos:
Our second and final release from Billy Bruner T'Spoon out of his obscure Oil Capital Record Label. 'If You Dance Tonight' is almost unknown boogie spin your never gonna find, solid. On the flip 'Say Yea' is an 80s sweet soul ballad years ahead of the pack, I have a soft spot for this one, damn good end of nighter if it's been a good one. Strictly 500 no repress.

Order Of Nothingness

auteur:

photo:
a propos:
The unique multidirectional artist Jimi Tenor visited Philophon's Joy Sound Studios for the first time and created another example that showcases him as one of the spearheading creative minds of our time. On "Order of Nothingness" he takes the listener by his hand to follow him into a multidimensional experience of psychedelic afrobeat. On top of the driving groove of "Tropical Eel" Jimi lets his fingers dance on the Hammond Extra-Voice, that rare tube based proto-synth which was introduced in the same year when Juri Gagarin was the first human in outer space: Jimi - proto-synth - outer space. That's a logical order!

Jimmy, Renda-Se/Kizumbau

photo:
a propos:
When Greg Caz and Deano Sounds teamed up to create The Brasileiro Treasure Box Of Funk & Soul they created a collection of vintage Brazilian music that stretches across the scope of funk, soul, and psychedelic. Co-compiler and Brazilian music aficionado, Greg Caz says: “Without necessarily having a central theme other than funky nuggets from the first half of the 70s, we believe this compilation displays its own particular sense of logic, and that these songs ultimately all sound fantastic together. Regardless of one’s familiarity, or lack thereof, with artists like Antonio Carlos & Jocafi, Os Incríveis, Toni Tornado or Celia, the material on these 45s speaks its own truth and justifies their inclusion here. Many of these were originally available as singles, while others were taken from albums, but all are guaranteed to find their way into many DJ boxes and playlists.” The stunning 45s from this set will now be available for individual sale. The series continues with Tom Zé’s unstoppable riff on “Jimmy, Renda-Se” with Eduardo Araujo sounding a bit like a Brazilian Tom Jones on the B-side, “Kizumbau.” Also available this time out, the funked up deep groove “A Hora E Essa” from Celia with Franco’s jazzy funk cut “El, Voce, Psui!” on the flip.

Do What You Came To Do/Ronin

auteur:

photo:
a propos:
More heat from LA’s premier funk and soul band! “Do What You Came To Do” is a track from the “Beyond The Sun” sessions that wasn’t included on the LP. Killer vocals from Adryon de León on the A-side! While the flip, “Ronin”, is a killer afro-funk steeped workout!

Next To You/I Still Love Them All

photo:
a propos:
Gene Washington and The Ironsides are back with their sophomore 7-inch for Colemine! Deep soul from the Bay Area is the order of the day with two sides that sound like they could have been pulled from an early Al Green record. Killer production from the Transistor Sound crew featuring members of Monophonics.

Jay Love Japan

auteur:

photo:
a propos:
J Dilla is widely regarded as one of the greatest hip-hop producers of all time, having supplied timeless soundbeds for the likes of A Tribe Called Quest, Slum Village, The Pharcyde, Busta Rhymes, Common, De La Soul, The Roots, D'Angelo, Erykah Babu, Madlib, and many more. In 2005, rumors began circulating about an album called "Jay Love Japan", a J Dilla solo project inspired by one of Jay Dee's favorite locations to visit on tour. After Dilla's untimely death in early 2006, the album became a lost classic shrouded in mystery, with only unofficial bootlegs and promo versions available. An official CD version was eventually released in 2008, but quickly went out of print. Now, the album is finally receiving the official release it always deserved. J Dilla's mother Ma Dukes and her label Vintage Vibez Music Group are proud to present official Vinyl and CD versions of "Jay Love Japan". With six soulful Dilla instrumentals and vocal appearances from Blu, Miguel, J*Davey, Ta'Raach, Exile, Baatin, and more, this 11-track collection is a perfect snapshot of late-period J Dilla brilliance.
